President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor İlnur Çevik claimed that Turkey’s artillery fire on YPG fronts in the east of Euphrates is a ‘friendly message to the US.’

The Turkish Armed Forces launched artillery fire on the region of Zor Magar in the east of the Euphrates River on October 28th, Sunday. The region is controlled by the US-backed YPG forces.
Addressing the issue in his article today in Yeni Birlik newspaper, Çevik wrote, “And finally our Armed Forces hit the YPG/PYD/PKK terrorists who have been deployed against us in the east of Euphrates. This was a clear message to friends and enemies…”
Stating that Erdoğan said several times ‘YPG/PYD/PKK’ will be ‘stopped’ in the east of the Euphrates, Çevik emphasized the artillery fire launched on the very next day after the matter was discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the latest quadruple meeting in Istanbul.
“This is a warning… This is, in fact, a friendly message to the US which doesn’t force the YPG/PYD/PKK elements that still procrastinate in Manbij out of the city. PKK acts in a way that threatens Syria’s territorial integrity in the east of Euphrates and the US overlooks them. Even Russia and Iran are uneasy about this situation… Turkey gave such messages in Afrin as well and did what was required…Now eyes are on Manbij and the east of the Euphrates” Çevik said.
