Bowie, duvarda resmedildiği hali ‘Ziggy Stardust‘ı 1972’de uzaydan gelen çift cinsiyetli rock star karakteri olarak yaratmış ve ‘glam rock‘la ilgilenen herkesin rol modeli olmuştu.

Bowie, yüzündeki kırmızı ve mavi şerit, ışıltılı kıyafetleri, feminen erkek görüntüsü, cinsiyet ayırt etmeyen cinsellik algısıyla gey toplumunun da ikonu haline gelmişti.
