Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink, columnist at Diken.com.tr, has been detained by the Turkish counter terrorism police after a raid to her house in Diyarbakır.
Geerdink has announced her own detainment from her Twitter account through this tweet: “terrorism police just searched my house, team of 8 guys. they take me to the station now. charge: ‘propaganda for terrorist organization’.
According to the statement of Tahir Elçi, Chairman of Diyarbakır Bar Association, Geerdink is detained with the charge of ‘propaganda for terrorist organization’, based on the reports and opinions she shared on Twitter.
Elçi stated that Geerdink is still being questioned at the counterrorism department as part of the investigation conducted by the Attorney General of Diyarbakır and she might be released in the coming hours.
Geerdink is known for her work on the Kurdish problem in Turkey.
